  Note	came to America with the 'Trelawney Party' which settled on Richmond Island, Maine between Black Point and Cape Elizabeth in 1633. This party was under the command of John Winter, who was a hard man to work for. Like most of his comrades, after his agreed term of service had expired, Thomas left and moved to Dover, New Hampshire. Here he was one of the signers of the 'Combination' in 1640 and the 'Protest' in 1641. About 1648 he married Elizabeth, daughter of John Wheeler, and settled in Kittery, Maine where on November 16, 1652 he was one of the signers of the 'Submission' of citizens of Kittery to the Massachusetts Bay Colony. His name is 12th on the list and is written Durston. On November 20, 1652 he was made Constable of Kittery and served as such for several years. In 1654 he was in the employ of George Walton on Great Island in the Piscataqua River and also received a grant of land in Kittery, where he built a house and lived until the winter of 1659-1660. That winter the house burned and he moved to Portsmouth where he died in 1662. On June 9, 1663 his widow married Matthias Button of Haverhill as his 4th wife and moved to his home in Haverhill with her children, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Mary Duston.
