- RAY WILSON BURGESS, third son of Marcus and Emeline (Sanborn) Burgess, was born 26 May 1884 near Palco, Kansas; he died of a heart attack 3 January 1937 at Shaw, Colorado. He married Stella May Spealman, sister to Elmer Burgess' wife, Elsie, 27 April 1906 at Stockton, Kansas. Stella Spealman was born 16 October 1888 at Marysville, Kansas. Between 21 April 1968 and her death 10 November 1968, she resided in a nursing home in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Ray Burgess grew to manhood in Kansas, farming there until 1908. In April of that year, he moved his family to a homestead north of Arriba, Colorado. About 1912 he moved his family again to a homestead hear Shaw, Colorado, whey lived until his death. The following words were written about Ray when died in 1937, a glowing account of his character: Ray Burgess was a man very highly esteemed and loved by everyone who knew him.
