  Note	Francis Emery Cleveland Sanborn, second son and third child of Josiah and Adelaide (Eaton) Sanborn, was born 8 April 1861 near Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He died Monday, 28 November 1893, near Covington, Iowa, at the early age of 32 and was buried Thanksgiving Day in Spring Grove Cemetary, Covington. His death was recorded as inflammation of the bowels. According to his sister, Jesse Coffey, his death may have been due to an acute attack of appendicitis; however, at the time appendectomies were not common operations. This branch of the Sanborn family seems to have also been stricken with appendicitis, including Francis Sanborn's daughter, Maud, who also died as a result of it. Francis Sanborn married Adella May Spicer, 12 December 1888 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Adella Spicer, daughter of Charles and Mary (Berkerd) Spicer, was born 23 March 1869 near Cedar Rapids; she died 7 April 1934 in Cedar Rapids. After her husband's untimely death, she remarried with George Duffield, son of George and Elizabeth Duffield. CHILDREN: i. Maud Mary Sanborn, b. 25 March 1890 ii.
