  Note	Mattthew Griswold moved to Erie, Pennsylvania in 1865 at the close of the Civil War. He entered into partnership with his cousins John Carl Selden and Samuel Selden (born Erie, PA; July 9, 1821, and died June 25, 1882). In 1873 the Selden and Griswold Manufacturing Company was formed at 10th and Chestnut Streets in Erie, Pennsylvania. In 1884 Matthew bought out the Seldens. He was a member of the 52d and 54th Congresses.
